AFA Alguaire School
Dear families,
In the last ordinary meeting of members held on November 16, the name change from AMPA Escola Alguaire to AFA Escola Alguaire was approved.
This change in name corresponds to the constant evolution of the society in which we live and to the desire to represent at all levels the diversity of family typologies that exist today. We believe that it is important that all the families that are part of the Teresa Bergadà School feel identified with the school.
This designation does not represent any significant change in management and the tasks that we are responsible for carrying out, but we do consider that it is more inclusive and representative of the society in which our children are being trained.
Many years ago in schools the grouping of families was called APA (Associació de Pares d'Alumnes) this term was only associated with the male figure of the family as a member related to the education of the children and excluded the other members of the family nucleus.
Later, and with the desire to resolve this grievance, the name of AMPA (Associació de Mares i Pares d'Alumnes) was proposed. With this change, the female figure is already included in the education of children and in the participation of parenting within the school. This term has been used for many years, but currently it is still not representative enough. This is why a new, more universal and integrative term was born, AFA (Associació de FámÃlies d'Alumnes), with the intention of linking to the school all the diversity of family environments that exist in our society.
And to celebrate this change, we are very excited to present the new version of the association's LOGO.
